A freestanding range sits on the floor. Pull it out, fix it, push it back. A built-in wall oven is a different operation entirely.
In Menlo Park’s custom kitchens — particularly the renovation projects that swept through Sharon Heights and Allied Arts between 2010 and 2022 — wall ovens are mounted in cabinetry built to millimeter tolerances. The surrounding panels are custom-painted or stained cabinet-grade wood, often with integrated trim kits and flush mounting hardware. Extraction without surface damage requires:
Appliance ProCare technicians photograph every built-in oven installation before extraction and bring surface protection equipment on every call. If your kitchen’s cabinetry was expensive to build, make sure the technician treating it as such. Call +1 650 535 4433.
Many of Menlo Park’s post-2015 kitchen renovations specified double wall oven columns or combination steam-microwave-oven stacks. A failure in one cavity of a double oven may come from a shared control board or power distribution module — not the cavity itself. Diagnosing this correctly on the first visit requires understanding the shared vs. independent architecture of that specific model.
Combination steam ovens (common in Miele and Wolf configurations) have additional failure modes: steam generator scale buildup, steam valve failure, and reservoir sensor issues — none of which are reachable without full unit extraction. Appliance ProCare technicians are trained on both double-oven and combination-unit architectures.
A replacement 30” wall oven: $1,500–$4,000. Miele, Wolf, or Thermador wall ovens: $3,500–$8,000. Custom trim kits and reinstallation: $300–$600 additional. Most component repairs run $80–$550. The 50% rule strongly favors repair at every price point. The only exception is a control board replacement on an entry-level unit over 15 years old where the board cost approaches the unit’s current market value.
Q: My Thermador wall oven shows a fault code but still heats. Should I call now or wait?
A: Call now. A fault code on a Thermador Masterpiece® while the oven still heats indicates an early-stage sensor or board anomaly. Addressing it before the unit stops working is significantly less expensive than an emergency call after failure.
Q: My double oven’s lower cavity stopped heating but the upper still works. Is this a shared board?
A: Possibly, but more likely the lower cavity’s independent element or sensor. Our diagnostic distinguishes between shared and independent components before any parts are ordered, preventing unnecessary board replacements.
